Vacuum System Retrofits
Vacuum systems have been designed with excess capacity and outdated control systems, which waste large amounts of energy. Airclean has developed a proprietary, testing method for accurately measuring your process, providing a baseline for energy-efficiency upgrades. Each source is accurately measured for flow and vacuum, and the efficiency of the existing vacuum pump is measured based on the actual system performance. How do you know if there is an opportunity on your system? See some basics below:
- If a liquid-ring vacuum pump is being used on a source with low vacuum (think pickup roll, Uhle box, etc.), there may be a good opportunity to replace them with more efficient devices.
- If a vacuum-breaker valve is open during normal operating conditions, there is likely an opportunity.
- If a pressure-reducing valve is heavily throttled to limit vacuum at the boxes, there is likely an opportunity.
If you are unsure of the above, or simply don't have reliable field data, call us in. We'd be happy to help you assess the efficiency of your vacuum system.
